A festive signing-over ceremony was held at the Ramallah welfare office, about 16 kilometers north of Jerusalem, while tourism authorities were handed over in Bethlehem which handles the bulk of tourism to the West Bank.
The transfer was part of an auxiliary agreement to the 1993 Israel-PLO accord to maintain momentum in peace talks by delegating some authorities to West Bank Palestinians, while a full interim settlement is still negotiated.
