Afghan Graves Found

ISLAMABAD -- A mass grave containing several hundred bodies of people killed during the Soviet invasion has been found in western Afghanistan, state-run radio has said. The grave was discovered in western Herat province, the second such mass burial to be found in the area, the radio, monitored in Islamabad said Saturday. "Up to now 30 bodies have been discovered and all were tortured and killed during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan," the radio said. "Further excavation is still going on." It said the grave was believed to contain several hundred bodies. Soviet troops entered Afghanistan in December 1979 and withdrew in early 1989.
