This Friday Star Wars fans across Moscow are in for a rare treat. Not only does “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” have its world premier, but lovers of the franchise will also have the chance to hear film buffs discuss the new film as part of the KARO.Art series.
Speakers at the open talk include Anton Dolin, one of the best known film critics in Russia, and Nina Tsyrkun, a film historian. After a screening of the film to audience members, the pair will debate how and why the Star Wars franchise has gained its cult status and how the films continue to push the boundaries of special effects and technology.
“Rogue One” is the first spin-off in Star Wars franchise. The plot does not involve any of the main characters from the saga, with the action set some time between episodes III and IV.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, best known for his recent remake of Godzilla, “Rogue One” stars Oscar nominee Felicity Jones and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, as well as Diego Luna and Mads Mikkelsen. The film centers around Jyn (Felicity Jones), a young runaway who is given the task of retrieving the Death Star plans.
