The coach of the Czech national football team, Pavel Vrba, who led the country to the 2016 UEFA European Championship, has signed a contract with Dagestan's Anzhi Makhachkala football club, the club's press service said in a statement Thursday.
Contracts have already been signed by Dusan Fitzel, Alexander Bokiy and Martin Tichacek, who will all assist the new coach.
The 52-year-old Vrba has coached the Czech Republic's national team since 2014. Under his leadership, the Czechs made it to the European Championship but didn't make it through to the play-off round.
Before that, Vrba headed the Victoria and Banik Czech football clubs and Slovakia's Zilina and Matador clubs.
The former head coach of Anzhi, Ruslan Agalarov, left his post on May 31. Anzhi, bought in 2011 by Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, took 13th place in the 2015–16 Russian Premier League.
