France is ready to contribute to a solution for the removal of anti-Russian sanctions imposed in response to events in Ukraine, French Senate Speaker Gerard Larcher said Tuesday.
"The EU summit will take place at the end of June or beginning of July. The European Commission is currently working on this issue, and it will then make relevant proposals," Larcher said, the TASS news agency reported.
Larcher told journalists that “there is no certainty that sanctions must continue” and that other solutions needed to be found, the Interfax news agency reported.
The lifting of sanctions would be made much easier if the Minsk agreements were implemented, Larcher added, TASS reported.
