Muscovites can expect a major blizzard this weekend, with the Russian Meteorological Office predicting heavy snowfall beginning Sunday morning and lasting through Monday monday, the Interfax news agency reported Friday.
"Snow and sleet are expected during the day," a spokesman was cited by Interfax as saying, adding that the city could see up to 10 centimeters of precipitation by Monday morning.
The meteorological office is predicting Sunday temperatures of up to 0 degrees Celsius, and warned of black ice on the roads, Interfax reported.
The latest snowstorm is expected amid unseasonably warm weather. According to the meteorological office's website, February temperatures are 7 degrees Celsius warmer than average. This winter overall has been 4 degrees warmer than the historical averages.
