Ukraine's Parliament to Vote on Bill Changing 'Special Status' for Donbass

Ukraine's parliament is set to consider a bill on the special status granted to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk peoples' republics, shortly after President Petro Poroshenko warned of a potential revocation of the regions' recently granted privileges.

The bill was submitted on Tuesday by Oleg Lyashko, the leader of Ukraine's Radical Party, according to the Ukrainian parliament's website.

No further details were provided on the official site, but Poroshenko warned late Monday that the special-status law may be revoked in light of the "electoral farce" that took place on Sunday, Reuters reported.

Calling for an emergency meeting of the Security Council, he said the twin elections in Donetsk and Luhansk on Sunday had violated a peace deal struck in Minsk in September.
