Drunk Driver Tries to Flee, Drags Traffic Cop 300 Meters

A drunk driver in Moscow dragged a police officer 300 meters in a traffic stop gone wrong late Monday, ITAR-Tass reported Tuesday.

"On Lermontov Prospekt, a driver in a state of intoxication in a Mazda vehicle rolled up the driver-side window [of the vehicle] and clamped down on the officer's arm. Putting the vehicle into motion, the suspect dragged the policeman along the road for 300 meters, after which the officer fell onto the roadway and received serious injuries," ITAR-Tass cited the Interior Ministry's press service as saying.

Officers also confiscated amphetamines from the suspect, who now faces administrative penalties, the report said. Police are considering whether to file more serious charges, ITAR-Tass reported.
