162 years ago today, on Feb. 5, 1852, the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg was opened to the public, 88 years after it was founded by Catherine the Great. Located in the Winter Palace — a former Tsarist residence — the Hermitage is one of the biggest and oldest museums in the world.
