Revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin

Ninety years ago today, on Jan. 21, 1924, the founder of the Bolshevik party and first head of the Soviet government, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, died at the Gorki estate in the Moscow region. His death at the age of 53 initiated a power struggle from which Josef Stalin emerged as the new leader of the Communist Party.
