Empress Anna Ioannovna commissioned the casting of the world's largest bell 283 years ago today, on July 26, 1730. The Tsar Bell, which stands at a height of 6.14 meters and weighs 200 tons, was damaged during a fire in 1737 and is now located on a pedestal between the Ivan the Great Bell Tower and the Kremlin Wall.
