U.S. and Russian authorities will work "as expeditiously as possible" to implement a new agreement tightening the rules for U.S. parents who adopt Russian children, the U.S. Embassy said Tuesday.
President Vladimir Putin signed the child adoptions agreement on July 28.
"The United States and Russia will now work as expeditiously as possible to establish procedures to implement the agreement," the embassy said in a statement. "Following the establishment of these procedures, the agreement will enter into force upon the exchange of diplomatic notes from the U.S. and Russian governments."
