Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, at his regular Monday meeting with deputies, said the erosion of the newly constructed road from the Vladivostok airport to Russky Island is "reason to put the company in bankruptcy," Vedomosti reported Monday.
Part of the road and an adjacent retaining wall built at a cost of 29 billion rubles ($930 million) in preparation for the APEC summit collapsed last week after heavy rains, snarling traffic.
"Who built it?" Medvedev asked First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov with visible anger. The answer was GidrodorNIIproekt, and the contractor was Tikhookeanskaya Mostrostroitelnaya Company. Shuvalov said the road could be restored within two to three weeks and would not affect the summit.
