Twenty-six Turkish and international companies applied for licenses to import up to 6 billion cubic meters a year of Russian natural gas for sale in Turkey, the energy market regulator said.
The regulator in Ankara gave the applicants 10 days to establish that they have agreed with Gazprom on sales contracts, a requirement for winning an import license, the regulator said in a statement.
Applicants include OMV, Aygaz, Zorlu, Aksa, and Turcas Petrol, according to the statement. There will be up to 4 bcm imported a year between 2012 and 2014, rising to 5 billion in 2015 and 6 billion in 2016, it said.
