16,000 Cut Off From Web

An arson attack cut off some 16,000 Internet users and 11,000 landline telephones in the far eastern Khabarovsk region and in the city of Birobidzhan in the Jewish Autonomous District on Monday, Interfax reported.

Unknown attackers set fire to a cable pit in Khabarovsk, the report said, adding that the lines were expected to be fixed by late Monday.
