Crash-Landed Plane May Be Stuck in Taiga

The Alrosa airline will attempt to rescue a Tu-154 jet that is stranded in the Komi taiga after making a dramatic emergency landing at an abandoned military airfield this week, RIA-Novosti reported Thursday.

But officials said the landing strip was too short to allow a takeoff, leaving dismantling as the only option to get the jet out of the forest, even though plane remained almost intact after Tuesday’s landing.

None of the 81 people on board were injured. Investigators are examining the plane’s black boxes.
