England Test discard Graham Thorpe led the way Wednesday for Surrey with 56 as it chased a meager 161 in its alloted 60 overs. It reached the target with 11.2 overs to spare. Thorpe guided Surrey out of a dangerous 42 for 2, in a match which was determined as much by the toss as by skill. Surrey will play Worcestershire at The Oval on Aug. 9.
