In Scotland, Raith advanced to the final of the Scottish League Cup after a penalty shootout with Airdrie.
Stewards removed angry home fans from the main stand at Loftus Road as struggling Queens Park Rangers lost the seven-goal thriller against City. Supporters chanted for the resignation of the club owner and former chairman Richard Thompson, and scuffles broke out when some fans tried to force their way into the directors' box.
In the game, Kevin Gallan gave Rangers the lead after just 14 seconds. Nicky Summerbee equalized in the 37th minute, but Trevor Sinclair put the home team back in front one minute later.
Keith Curle's penalty two minutes into the second half tied it again, and Peter Beagrie, in the 54th, and Steve Lomas, in the 59th, made it 4-1. Gary Penrice netted a consolation goal for Rangers with three minutes remaining.
At Sheffield, an injury time own goal by defender Andy Scott lost the game to Bolton in a battle of Division One clubs. Scott was trying to clear Alan Thompson's free kick, but instead directed it into his own net.
Nathan Blake had equalized for United two minutes into the second half after Mixu Paateleinen's opener for Bolton in the sixth minute. At Mansfield, Richard Cadette and Mark Kennedy scored the goals to lead Division One Millwall to a comfortable victory over the Division Three club.
At Wimbledon, Chris Armstrong's 72nd minute goal was the difference in Palace's victory over its Premier League rival.
In the Scottish League Cup, Raith has its goalkeeper sent off and needed penalties to defeat Airdrie in the semifinals at Perth. Alistair Graham gave Raith a 1-0 lead in 39th minute, but Raith goalkeeper Scott Thomson was shown the red card in the 69th minute when it was ruled that he caught a long ball outside the penalty area.
Airdrie equalized against substitute goalkeeper Brian Porter five minutes later with a 25-meter drive from English striker Steve Cooper. Porter became the hero after a scoreless extra time, saving the decisive spot kick from Alan Lawrence as Raith won the shootout 5-4.
Celtic hosted Aberdeen in the other semifinal Wednesday.
