Unable to agree a clear "Yes" or "No" over Dini's cabinet of technocrats, the Alliance was expected to abstain in a key vote in the Chamber of Deputies, or lower house, due on Wednesday.
Abstention would hand Dini victory by lowering the number of votes needed to win the confidence of the 630-seat Chamber.
