Why the GOP Won

At a recent press conference by Vladimir Zhirinovsky's Liberal Democratic Party of Russia a new press secretary was presented: Viktor Filatov. Filatov is the former editor of The Military-Historical Journal and is well-known for his book about the f--hrer (the German one).

The leader of the party himself said he was pleased by a number of impressions from his recent trip to the United States. He had two comments concerning the reasons behind the victory of the Republican Party in the recent U.S. elections. One reason was that the average American could not forgive the Clinton administration for supporting Yeltsin's attack on the Supreme Soviet last October. He also said that the key to the victory was that the Republican Party's ideas are so similar -- virtually identical -- to those of the Liberal Democratic Party.
