n WARSAW, Poland () -- Restaurant and shop owners in Warsaw's historic Old Town say they will close their businesses for three days starting Saturday in a war on extortionist gangs.
Some 50 private entrepreneurs met clandestinely Thursday and decided to carry out their self-defense action, despite heavy costs of closing business during the weekend, national newspapers reported Friday. So far, the police have not taken any action, saying no complaints were reported. The businessmen may fear gangs' revenge if they contact the police.
