U.S., Spain in Fed Cup

WILMINGTON, North Carolina () -- Gigi Fernandez and Lindsay Davenport led the United States into the finals of the 1995 Fed Cup, joining forces in doubles for the first time and beating Nathalie Tauziat and Julie Halard of France.


The United States claimed a 3-2 victory over France in the semifinal match on the University of North Carolina at Wilmington campus on Sunday. Having beaten France 10 straight times dating back to 1966, the Americans now face Spain in the finals, scheduled for Nov. 25 to 26 in Spain. The Spanish team downed Germany 3-2.


Conchita Martinez thrashed Sabine Hack without losing a game Sunday, scoring the clinching point for Spain.
