Two Britons Positive

LONDON () -- The British Athletic Federation confirmed Thursday that shot putter Paul Edwards and runner Diane Modahl, who returned early from the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday, have tested positive for banned substances.

BAF executive chairman Peter Radford said both athletes, who represented England at the Games, had positive results from "A'" samples taken recently, but that the corresponding "B'" samples had yet to been analyzed.

Radford also said three other British track athletes on the club level had failed drug tests over the summer. He declined to name the athletes pending the outcome of the BAF's internal procedure for handling such cases.
