Title Slips From Nunn

Steve Little, who had not fought for 13 months, pulled off a major shock by taking the WBA super-middleweight title from fellow American Michael Nunn on a split points decision.

Saturday was expected to be a comfortable night's work for Nunn. But now the lucrative plan for a title unification series has disintegrated. Little, from Pennsylvania, had a modest record of 21 wins in 36 contests but he managed to unseat a man many experts considered the best in the world at his weight.

Little, 28, took the verdict by scores of 115-112, 116-114 and 113-115.
