Spy Charge Dropped

CANBERRA, Australia () -- Prosecutors have decided to drop espionage charges against a former Australian counter-intelligence analyst who was accused of pocketing secret documents and passing them to the Russian Embassy.

George Sadil, 58, was charged with removing sensitive Australian Security Intelligence Organization documents and passing them to a Russian Embassy staff member, Vyacheslav Tatarinov.

Federal prosecutors agreed Monday to drop espionage charges saying it would be difficult to prove any documents were passed to a third party.
