LONDON -- One of English soccer's proudest clubs, Tottenham, faces relegation from the premier league over charges of financial irregularities. The north London club, winner of a record seven FA Cups, appeared at a Football Association Commission hearing Tuesday on more than 40 charges involving loans to leading players. If found guilty of a number of the charges, it could play in the first division next season. But a more likely punishment is a fine and deduction of points.
