Salaam Wins Heisman

NEW YORK () -- Colorado tailback Rashaan Salaam has been named the winner of the 1994 Heisman Trophy, college football's highest award.


Salaam, a junior who led the nation in rushing and scoring and was just the fourth major-college player to run for 2,000 yards in a season, was announced as the winner in ceremonies Saturday at New York's Downtown Athletic Club.


Salaam was the clear-cut winner among the panel of 928 voters, collecting 400 first-place votes and 1,743 points.
