Russians to U.S.

Moscow () -- As Russian hockey players return home during the NHL lockout, the Soviet Wings team is going in the other direction.

The club leaves Tuesday for a 15-day tour of the United States to play seven games against International Hockey League teams, games that will count in the IHL's regular-season standings. The first opponent is the Atlanta Knights on Thursday. Another trip for 10 more games is scheduled in December.

The CSKA Russian Penguins toured the United States last year and went 2-9-2, but Soviet Wings coach Igor Dimitriev was optimistic his club could fare better. "We are ready to show them good hockey," he said.
