Clipper Group hired armed Russian marines to protect its vessels from Somali pirates when the carriers sail through the Gulf of Aden, Lloyd’s List reported Friday, citing general manager Niels Mathiesen.

The Danish shipping line is hiring up to six marines for some transits, the newspaper reported.
