Riot Greets Royal Visit

BUENOS AIRES () -- Police have clashed with youths protesting the first visit by a member of the British royal family to Argentina since the 1982 Falklands War.

Prince Andrew, who served as a helicopter pilot in the war, arrived Tuesday, but his visit was overshadowed when some 100 youths marched to the British Embassy, where they burned British and American flags, threw firecrackers and chanted anti-British slogans.

Dozens were injured when police charged the crowd. Five people were arrested.

Almost 1,000 people died in the war between Argentina and Britain. Argentina claims it inherited the islands upon gaining independence from Spain in 1816 .
