ST. PETERSBURG -- A man suspected of raping and disemboweling an 8-year-old boy in the elevator of the child's apartment building was arrested Wednesday, police said.
The suspect fitted the boy's description of his attacker, whom he said was a tall, fashionably dressed young man, a police spokesman said on condition of anonymity. He was not immediately charged.
The boy's mother said that he was in a stable condition Wednesday, although he lost part of his upper and lower intestines.
