Russian President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov earned four times more money last year than in 2014, according to his declaration of income, the RIA Novosti news agency reported Monday.

Peskov earned 37.6 million rubles ($550,000) last year, according to his declaration, which was published by the Kremlin. He owns three apartments, a parking space and a Toyota Land Cruiser.

In 2014 his personal declared income did not exceed 9.18 million rubles ($135,000), RIA Novosti reported.

Peskov said that an inheritance he got after his father's death explains the surge in income.
