Polish Ferry Faulted

HELSINKI, Finland () -- Fearing a repeat of the Estonia ferry disaster that killed 900 people, Finnish inspectors have stopped a Polish ferry from leaving port after they found faults in its front cargo doors.

The passenger ferry Pomerania was to leave for Gdansk, Poland, on Tuesday night. But inspectors found holes in the bow doors and worn locks and hinges, said Veikko Inkinen, chief inspector of the National Board of Navigation.

"The bow doors really looked dangerous," Inkinen said.
