Police Raid Yevroset's Headquarters

The Associated Press
Law enforcement officers raided the Moscow headquarters of mobile phone retailer Yevroset late Tuesday, RIA-Novosti reported.

Employees were told to leave the building during the search, RIA-Novosti said.

Alexander Papin, Yevroset's vice president for finance, told the agency that he did not believe the investigation was related to tax claims.

A spokesman for Yevroset could not be reached for immediate comment.

Police officials could also not be reached for comment.

Police raided Evroset last year in an investigation reportedly connected to the sale of contraband phones.

Evroset is co-owned by Yevgeny Chichvarkin -- a brash entrepreneur famed for his controversial public-relations stunts -- and director Timur Artemyev.
