O.J. Trial Delayed

LOS ANGELES () -- Prosecutors, furious at being outfoxed by one of America's most skilled defense lawyers, have brought the O.J. Simpson murder trial to a halt -- at least until next week.


Lead defense lawyer Johnnie Cochran had not even finished his opening statement Thursday when furious prosecutors accused Simpson's defenders of ambushing them by making references to witnesses they did not know about.


Calling it "outrageous, disgusting and appalling" misconduct, the prosecution asked for a 30-day delay in the trial to regroup and investigate the latest developments.


Judge Lance Ito said he would have his ruling by Monday and told both sides to be ready to resume the double-murder trial then if he so decides
