BEIJING () -- China has arrested or punished 19 officials for a fire this month that killed over 300 people, most of them children, state television reported Thursday.
A newspaper also reported another blaze that killed 17 people, raising the national fire death toll for the year to more than 2,200.
That fire broke out in the Princess Discotheque in Heilongjiang province Dec. 10, when a gas stove exploded in the kitchen. It came just two days after 325 people died in a theater in the northwestern oil town of Karamay
