Moscow Airports Slash Flights After Heavy Snowfall

More than 50 flights were canceled at Moscow airports on Wednesday as the city remains buried under almost a quarter of a meter of snow, the Interfax news agency reported Wednesday.

Eighteen flights were canceled at Domodedovo Airport and the same number are delayed, the news agency reported, citing online flight information provided by the airports.

Thirty flights were canceled at Sheremetyevo Airport while another 10 were delayed. Four flights were canceled at Vnukovo Airport, the news agency reported.

The heavy snowfall began in Moscow on Tuesday and is expected to continue on Wednesday with up to 25 centimeters of snow possible, according to meteorologists.

As of Wednesday morning, a total of 24 centimeters of snow had fallen in Moscow since the start of the snowfall on Tuesday afternoon, Interfax reported, citing City Hall data.
