Macedonia Alters Flag

SKOPJE, Macedonia () -- Macedonia's parliament agreed Thursday to Greek demands for changes to the country's flag and paved the way for the lifting of a crippling 18-month economic embargo by Greece.

Legislators voted almost unanimously for the change, two days after a car bomb attempt on the life of Macedonian President Kiro Gligorov, which Greek spokesmen blamed on hardline Macedonian nationalists.

The new flag was criticized by representatives of Macedonia's large ethnic Albanian minority.
