LUKoil Picks Auditor

MOSCOW -- Russia's largest independent oil company, LUKoil, has appointed KPMG Peat Marwick as auditors and reporting accountants in connection with the planned sale of its shares to foreign investors in 1995, KPMG announced Wednesday.

KPMG will also provide LUKoil with an independent valuation of the company's oil and gas reserves, according to a KPMG news release.

LUKoil, which plans to offer 15 percent of its stock on foreign markets next year, has already chosen the U.S. legal firm Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. as consultant on the sale.
