Lithuania Railway Blast

VILNIUS () -- The Lithuanian government urged vigilance and ordered an investigation into a weekend explosion that wrecked a railway.

A strong blast Sunday nearly demolished a bridge 35 kilometers to the southwest of the capital, Vilnius. Residents averted disaster by helping stop a passenger train that had been due to pass the bridge shortly after.

Algirdas Kliore, a senior technical railway inspector, called the blast "a serious act of sabotage."
