Koreas Prepare to Talk

SEOUL -- North Korea, preparing for an unprecedented presidential summit with the South, confirmed Monday that it would start high-level talks with the United States on July 8 in Geneva. The Pyongyang regime has been embroiled in a dispute with the international community over its suspected nuclear-weapons program for over a year. Representatives of both Koreas were due to meet at Panmunjom on their heavily-fortified frontier Tuesday to discuss plans for what would be the first such summit since Korea was divided after World War II.
