Japan Extends Debt

The Japanese government has granted Russia a respite on the servicing of a $753 million debt inherited from the former Soviet Union, Itar-Tass reported Tuesday.


According to the news agency, the Japanese foreign ministry press secretary said the decision was based on a respite that was given on $15 billion in former Soviet debt at the April 1993 Paris Club meeting.
