ROME () -- Italian President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro on Friday ruled out an immediate call for early elections and said he needed more time before he decides who should lead the next government.
Scalfaro, wrapping up a first round of discussions with political leaders, told reporters that the meetings gave a clear majority in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate against immediate elections.
