ROME () -- Prospects of running the Italian Formula One Grand Prix at the Monza circuit next month dimmed Wednesday when a local government official rejected the latest safety plan for the track.
Under theamended plan, which was rejected, 123 trees would be felled to widen run-off areas on the dangerous Lesmo curves.
Environmentalists have strongly opposed the plan.
