Iran Blasts Kill Up to 3

NICOSIA, Cyprus () -- Two bombs have ripped through Tehran's cramped southern districts, killing as many as three people and possibly wounding scores of others, the state-run news agency said Tuesday.

A brief dispatch by the Islamic Republic News Agency said the blasts occurred Monday night, killing three people and wounding scores of others. But in a later report official Tehran radio quoted an unidentified security official as saying the blasts killed only two people and injured no one.

The radio blamed the Iraq-based Mujahedeen Khalq opposition group for the attacks, but the rebels said the government itself was responsible.
