Indian Bus Ambushed

NEW DELHI () -- Tribal militants in northeastern India pushed a busload of passengers down a deep gorge, killing at least 34 and injuring 11, the Press Trust of India said Thursday.

The militants from the Kuki tribe ambushed the bus, carrying 52 people, at Kotlang, a village 45 kilometers from the Manipur state capital Imphal on Wednesday, the news agency said.

The Statesman newspaper identified the victims as Naga rebels, who have a long-standing bloody dispute with pro-government Kukis.
