Hijacker Kills Himself

TALLINN, Estonia () -- A Russian hijacker who threatened suicide if he was extradited hanged himself two days after Estonian authorities announced their decision to turn him over to Moscow.

Vladimir Boshko, 36, was found dead Saturday in his room at a Tallinn mental hospital where he had been undergoing observation, police said.

Boshko had insisted he faced persecution in Russia and threatened to kill himself if he had to go back.

Boshko hijacked a plane Nov. 24 in Russia and diverted it to Tallinn. He demanded the plane fly to Denmark, but after several hours of negotiations he released the passengers and surrendered.
