Finns, Russians in Final

HELSINKI () -- Trailing 2-1 after the first period, Finnish champion Jokerit scored five straight second-period goals on the way to a 9-4 victory over Pardaugava Riga of Latvia in the European Cup hockey tournament.

Jokerit gained the final Wednesday with a clean record, 3-0-0, from the three games in its group, played in Helsinki.

In Friday's final, Jokerit will meet Russian champion Lada Togliatti, which finished the group at Turku with a 2-0-1 record. Defending champion TPS of Turku had an identical record, but Togliatti's goal difference of nine against eight for TPS put the Russians into the final.

Last year's final also featured the Finnish and Russian champions, with TPS beating Dinamo of Moscow 3-2 for the title.
