Fault on Senna Crash

PARIS () -- A broken steering column probably caused Ayrton Senna's fatal crash at the San Marino Grand Prix in May, two French newspapers reported Friday.

The steering failed on the three times world champion's Williams as he entered the Tamburello curve at Imola at nearly 300 kph, said L'Equipe and Infomation.

A microscopic examination of the fracture in the steering column on June 28 showed that the break was not caused by the car's impact on the concrete wall at the end of the curve but by a quality flaw.
