Drop in Romanian Oil

BUCHAREST-- Romania's June oil output dropped by around 17,000 tons from the previous month and was 1 percent down year on year, the Industry Ministry's oil and gas department said Monday.

"Crude production amounted to 558,640 tons in June, falling both month on month and year on year," said department official Carmen Darabana. But six-month oil output, at 3.3 million tons, was 1 percent up from the year-ago period, she said.

From peak production of around 14 million tons in the 1970s, Romania has seen its crude output slide over the past 20 years, mainly because of depletion of tapped reserves.
